About l’École

Devant l'école - la fête de la musique

L’Ecole Koenig is a bilingual music school founded in Paris in 1986. The school was created in order to offer an alternative to the French musical education system. We believe that learning about music and playing an instrument is an enriching experience for every child. Our faculty, graduates of the world’s finest universities and conservatories, know that the motivation and the discipline necessary to perfect an instrument come from many sources. It is our mission to inspire that motivation in each child. Our program consists of group classes for the very young, leading to private lessons combined with group courses and ensembles for older children.

At l’Ecole Koenig, we select our students by considering not only their talent, but also their motivation and willingness to work. It is essential that our young students’ parents understand that their participation is also indispensable for a good musical education. A student who is regularly encouraged at home will discover the immense pleasure of making steady progress, which in turn leads to an even greater personal commitment.

Each year the school organizes many special activities in which all students can participate. These include the production of musicals, concerts, competitions and master classes, events that further inspire our young musicians and expand their horizons. For this reason, we strongly urge their parents to take part in as many of the school’s activities as they can.

Over the years, the musical comedies and operas put on by the school have been many and diverse, including The Magic Flute, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Peter Pan, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Bugsy Malone and Grease.

The school also regularly organizes master classes with some of the world’s greatest musicians. These have included Herbie HANCOCK, Branford MARSALIS, John MCLAUGHLIN, Michel PETRUCCIANI, Kenny BARRON, Patrice FONTANAROSA, Gilles APAP and Bruno RIGUTTO.
